Jannie's Hope is a  non-profit fund dedicated to support non-smoking related lung cancer research. 

 

Janice McArdle lived a vibriant fifty-nine years before being taken from us in February 2008 from ung cancer.  Janice was an active, healthy non-smoker.  She visited the doctor in June of 2007 because she had a cough.  We were shocked to find out she was diagnosed with an advanced stage of lung cancer.  She showed no other symptoms and was a non-smoker, so to all of us, it was truly unbelievable.  It is the feeling of her family and friends that if we had caught this terrible disease early, the outcome would have been much different.  Unfortunately, there is a lack of awareness that lung cancer can affect non-smokers.  Due to the smoking stigma surrounding lung cancer, many cannot justify making donations toward research on lung cancer.  We absolutely need to create an awareness that lung cancer is NOT just a smoking disease.      

 

It has become the mission of her family and friends to raise money to fund innovative research to develop early detection methods, effective treatment and ultimately find a cure.


Jannie's Hope Vision

• Promote cancer awareness and prevention

• Ultimately cultivate a cure for lung cancer

Fundraising

The Janice Lamb McArdle Cancer Research Fund is a part of the DuPage Community Foundation.   In that we are new to the foundation/fundraising environment, being apart of this foundation gives us many advantages.   Firstly, Jannie's Hope receives immediate 501(C)3 status.  Also, we have the ability to reach out to groups with over 20 years of experience in foundation work.
